  • Nonbinary employees report higher employee sentiment at companies that sponsor Pride marches, compared to competitors who don’t sponsor.
  • Companies that sponsor marches have bigger DEI workforces, and this is reflected in higher DEI ratings overall compared to their competitors.
  • LGBTQI+ employees ratings show that Mastercard, United Airlines, and Delta Airlines are the top companies to work for among Pride sponsors.

We love reporting on the workforce

As we approach NYC Pride this weekend, companies are changing their logos to rainbow colors, sponsoring Pride marches, and launching Pride-themed marketing campaigns. But do these companies that talk the talk really walk the walk? In honor of Pride month, this week, Revelio Labs looks into employee sentiment of the LGBTQI+ community and the diversity outcomes of Pride sponsors.

Does a colorful new logo translate to better employee outcomes for LGBTQI+ employees? We compare employee ratings of the companies who are sponsoring the NYC Pride March this year with their direct competitors. Zooming in on reviews left by employees who identify as nonbinary, we find that Pride sponsors are rated more highly than their competitors across all categories. Along with reporting better experiences overall, it’s worth noting that Culture and Values ratings are higher at Pride sponsors too.

How does the allyship translate from the parade to the office? Our workforce intelligence software shows that Pride sponsors have larger DEI teams than their competitors. Their ratios of DEI team size to company headcount are consistently higher than others, and the difference has been increasing since mid-2020.

As Revelio Labs previously reported, DEI teams are associated with better DEI sentiment among employees. So it might not come as a surprise that Pride sponsors have higher DEI ratings than their competitors, with the difference increasing notably after they ramped up their DEI team sizes in mid-2020. Turns out, Pride sponsors are not only talking the talk but also walking the walk by hiring more DEI professionals hence boosting DEI sentiment for their employees.

Last but not least, here are the Pride sponsors rated the best by their LGBTQI+ employees. Although we see a mix of industries, our workforce intelligence software indicates that airline companies are some of the best places to work for Queer employees, with United, Delta, and Alaska Airlines all showing up among the leaders.
